Unsaid (“we”) is a Chrome and Firefox extension that analyses a YouTube video when you ask it to: claims, interests at stake, questions to ask yourself. This page explains what we collect and why.

Nothing is sent until you click “Analyse”. The extension does not track your browsing and reads no page other than the YouTube video you choose to analyse.

1. What we collect

  • Account: email address and password (stored hashed with bcrypt), or your Google identity if you sign in with Google.
  • Content of the analysed video: id, title, channel, duration, description, timestamped transcript and the text of the public comments YouTube shows first (about sixty at most, with their like counts, without their authors' names), read in your browser on YouTube and sent to our server for the analysis. For a video without captions, and only if you click “Transcribe while watching”, the sound of the video you are watching is recorded by your browser in one-minute slices and sent to our server to be transcribed (never your microphone or another tab); the transcript (public content of the video) is kept for later analyses of the same video.
  • The analysis result, linked to your account (history and the 3-free-analyses-per-week quota).
  • Payment: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

2. Shared analyses

“Share the analysis” creates a public, read-only page containing only the video (id, title, channel) and the analysis result — no data about you (no email, name or account id). Anyone with the link can read it. To have a page removed, email [email protected] with its link.

3. Processors

  • Anthropic (Claude model) receives the video's title, description, transcript and comments to produce the analysis. No account data is sent.
  • OpenAI (Whisper) only receives the audio of videos without captions, to transcribe it. No account data is sent.
  • Stripe handles payments and subscriptions.

We never sell or rent any data.

4. Local storage

The extension only keeps your login token in the browser's local storage. No third-party cookies.

5. Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your account and analyses by emailing [email protected]. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Stripe customer portal.

6. Nature of the analysis

Analyses are generated automatically and may contain mistakes. They are not a judgement on the video's creator.
